Pain is the bodies way to warn us of injury. We should not ignore these signals so seeing your GP is your first port of call. But at times pain can become chronic, may not be explained or worsens with emotional stress; this is where hypnotherapy can help.
You may be due for an operation, have an existing injury or be suffering with unexplained poor health/healing. Healing can be supported with a good diet, being hydrated, not smoking and a healthy mind. But for some people infections, unexpected slow healing and other symptoms occur, with no apparent cause. This is where hypnotherapy can help.
Hypnotherapy can ease pain and promote healing
The mind-body connection is a confirmed and a scientific reality. This is no more evident than the placebo effect. Patients are given a placebo unknowingly and are advised by doctors that it’s a new and effective pain relief for back pain*. A few weeks later the findings showed that 50% had found a significant improvement with the pills (containing rice). This is put down to the power of the mind, which creates physical changes due to an expected improvement; mind body connection. After the experiment many choose to keep taking the pills even after learning they were placebos as they worked so well and the benefits remained.
With Hypnotherapy I will be able to utilise the mind-body connection to maximise healing and manage pain. This is done through hypnosis, which allows a direct connection with the unconscious mind where faulty patterns to physical pain are stored. Emotional, environmental and learnt influences can create a physical influence in the body, often causing pain or hindering healing.
