History of hypnotherapy, how it works and how it can help you

The Ancient art of hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is believed to be an ancient art. It has been suggested that ancient cultures in Egypt, Roman, Greece, China and India, used the trance state (hypnotherapy) to cure physical and emotional conditions.

From the 15th century onwards, physicians, scientists and physiologists studied, practices and developed the therapeutic use of the trance state. After World War I, hypnotherapy was used to successfully treat solders suffering with post-traumatic stress.

Hypnotherapy is used widely around the world.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy utilises the trance state to enable change. We all use the trance state multiple times a day. It’s the phenomenon of time moving quickly when focusing on something such as watching TV, driving, studying, day dreaming, being creative and so on.

Do you have those moments whilst driving or doing an activity when you can’t remember the journey or time seems to fly by? You were in a trance state.

Hypnotherapy uses this focus of attention to bypass the conscious mind and work directly with the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind is taking in a trillion bits of information at any one time and is the most primative part of the brain.

It manages all the body functions, your senses, automatic reactions and also what you learnt. It’s amazing but it can also store negative learnt patterns, unwanted behaviours & reactions and unpleasant emotions.

Hypnotherapy is able to connect with the unconscious mind, in a dream state, to move on from those unwanted patterns, behaviours and emotions.

I can use metaphors, stories and information gathered from you to move the mind from those issues and onto your desired future. Each session is unique, as I will adapt my therapy based on your skills, abilities and experiences in life.

My therapy will not only treat your difficult, but it will also enhance other aspects of your life, to give you supportive foundations for lasting change.

Combined therapy

I also use solution-focused psychotherapy. This is a technique, which uses the art of conversation to focus your mind on how to move forward, gain clarity and take another perspective, amongst others.

This technique is uplifting, transformational and mindful.

You will leave the unwanted past behind and focus on your future as only you know how. I have the skills to guide you to new and forgotten abilities, which will further support your recovery.

Booking a hypnotherapy session with Chrissy

Sessions last between 60 to 90 minutes as each client is unique and cost £70.

I am committed to giving you exactly what you need to overcome what’s troubling you, build you up and set you on your new path.

Your desired outcome may take a few sessions or more to achieve. There is no set plan for everyone; sessions will be based on you as an individual and your needs.
