This has been termed the Seinfeld method or don’t break the chain method.
Basically, you just track the things you want to do, or even don’t want to do each day and try not to break the chain.
Each day you complete the thing you want you continue the chain. It is kind of a mental game to play, but there is something in your brain that doesn’t want you to break the chain once it gets going.
The longer the chain gets the more your brain works to make sure you don’t break it.
Let’s say you want to walk 10k steps a day, each day you check off you did it 1,2,3,4,5…..10,11,12….20,21,22….. trust me the longer that chain gets the more you will do to ensure you don’t break it, when you hit that point you have replaced your habit.
Keeping the chain going becomes a subconscious force that continues to propel you in the right direction.
